Russell Kaye

Chief designer
{and tech nerd}

This is actually my senior portrait from '99.

A total Zaddy.

Russell brings decades of broadcast post-production experience to the team at Happy Pixel. From graveyard shifts at This Old House and Antiques Roadshow, to launching and co-owning a Eugene-based full-service production company for 8 years, he has the breadth of experience to efficiently handle any post-production project thrown his way.

In addition to having a knack for designing efficient editorial workflows, his almost 20 years of After Effects mastery makes him your go-to for motion graphics, automated data-driven graphics, and color grading. His keen eye for pre-visualizing graphics and effects on-set helps ensure that what’s captured in the field translates through the post-production process to a seamless final product.

A scrappy problem-solver at heart, Russell is known for being able to do more with less. From moving massive amounts of data across networks to building a on-site scalable media server, he takes personal pride in being the one who can deliver the solution.

A Portland native, Russell spends his non-work time chasing trains and climbing trees with his twin 8 year olds. He enjoys hiking, mountaineering, woodworking, cooking and gardening. Yes, he is Mr. Northwest.
